Dear Visitor: When you are taking care of your family during the coronavirus pandemic, don’t forget about your pets. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there is currently no evidence that pets can spread the virus to people, but studies are underway to determine if pets are the source of the infection.
The CDC recommends treating your pet the same way you treat your family. Do not allow them to interact with people or animals outside your home. Keep them indoors so that cats don’t interact with other animals or people. Dogs walk on a leash, keeping animals six feet away from others. Stay away from dog parks and public places. And, if a family member of the home becomes ill, that person must be separated from everyone, including pets.
